In 2025, Singapore introduced the SG60 Voucher Scheme, a landmark financial assistance program to commemorate 60 years of independence. Announced during Budget 2025, this initiative reflects the government’s commitment to sharing the nation’s prosperity with its people. The scheme provides direct financial aid in the form of vouchers that can be used for essential daily needs, easing household expenses while also supporting the local economy.
Purpose of the SG60 Voucher Scheme
With rising living costs affecting families across the country, the government designed this scheme to provide meaningful relief. The vouchers can be used for groceries, food, and household necessities, ensuring that families, seniors, and low-income groups are better equipped to manage their budgets. At the same time, the program stimulates local businesses by encouraging spending within the community. This dual purpose makes the initiative beneficial both for individuals and for Singapore’s economy as a whole.
Voucher Amounts and Distribution
Distribution of the vouchers began on 1 July 2025, starting with seniors aged 60 and above who were prioritized due to their greater need for support. Seniors receive a total of S$800 in vouchers. Younger adults between the ages of 21 and 59 began receiving their vouchers from 22 July 2025, with each eligible person in this group entitled to S$600. In total, over three million Singaporeans are expected to benefit, with more than S$2 billion being directed into the economy.
Validity Period

The vouchers are valid until 31 December 2026. This long validity period gives recipients ample time to plan their usage across food, groceries, and other essentials without pressure. However, citizens are encouraged to redeem their vouchers in a timely manner to make the most of the scheme and avoid the rush toward the deadline.
Claiming the SG60 Vouchers
The government has created multiple ways for Singaporeans to claim their vouchers, ensuring that both digital and non-digital users are covered. Citizens can log in to the official SG60 portal using their SingPass account to claim the vouchers online. A secure SMS from “gov.sg” is sent upon successful activation. Physical postcards featuring commemorative SG60 artwork are also distributed, each containing a unique QR code that directs users to the claim portal. For those who require additional assistance, community centres and SG Digital Hubs provide in-person help, with volunteers guiding seniors and less tech-savvy individuals through the process.
Uptake and Early Impact
Within weeks of the rollout, the program saw strong participation. More than 915,000 seniors had already claimed their vouchers, representing 83 percent of the eligible senior population. Spending figures also revealed the positive impact: over S$127 million had been used by early September 2025, with S$76.6 million spent at hawker centres and small shops, and S$51 million at supermarkets. These results highlight how the vouchers are both easing financial pressures and helping local businesses thrive.
Community Support Network
To make the scheme accessible for all, an extensive support network has been put in place. SG Digital Ambassadors and CDC Volunteers are assisting residents with online claims and voucher-related questions. Silver Infocomm Wellness Ambassadors are playing a key role in helping elderly citizens navigate digital processes. Authorities have also reminded citizens to stay alert against scams. Official communications always come from “gov.sg” and never request banking details. Only secure SMS or official postcards are used, and suspicious messages should be reported immediately.
The SG60 Voucher Scheme is not just a financial aid measure but also a community-strengthening effort. By offering S$800 to seniors and S$600 to younger adults, the program reduces household expenses while ensuring small businesses continue to flourish. With its careful balance of digital and offline support systems, the initiative leaves no citizen behind. As Singapore celebrates 60 years of independence, this scheme represents a shared commitment to resilience, inclusivity, and collective prosperity.
